Head Coach Bill Wadley and Assistant Coach Dave Rollins earned a verbal commitment from the famed Baylor Swim Club’s Dustin Tynes. Tynes is from Chattanooga, Tennessee, which is right on the border of Georgia, but also has Bahamian nationality.
Tynes competed at the 2013 FINA Junior World Championships this past summer in the 50m and 100m breaststroke races, finishing 28th and 37th. His time in the 50 breaststroke, 29.60, set a new Senior Record for the Bahamas. He still holds Bahamian age group records in all three breaststroke disciplines.
Tynes has been a member of the National Team for the Bahamas for six years, starting back in 2008. He has also represented his country at the annual CARIFTA Games since 2008.
Outside his international success, Tynes was apart of Baylor’s 2013 TISCA State Championship win – avenging 2012’s second place finish. He finished first in the 200 freestyle relay, second in the 200 medley relay, 6th in the 100 breaststroke and 12th in the 50 freestyle.
His best times include (SCY/LCM):
50 Breaststroke: 28.08/29.60
100 Breaststroke: 57.69/1:05.37
200 Breaststroke: 2:09.89/2:26.06
50 Freestyle: 22.20/NT
100 Freestyle: 48.51/56.13
200 Freestyle: 1:46.95/NT
Baylor Swim Club has produced several top tier recruits. Most recently was Kristen Vredeveld, who is now a freshman at Cal.
Great addition to the Buckeyes program! However he went a 2:23.44 at the most recent Carifta Games!
