NCAA Platform Diving Champion Nick McCrory Earns ACC Diver of the Week Honors

Senior Nick McCrory earned ACC Male Diver of the Week honors Tuesday after returning to collegiate competition in strong fashion over the weekend in dual meet action at UNC Wilmington.

The 2013 NCAA platform diving champion and 2013 ACC Men’s Diver of the Year, McCrory demolished the previous pool records on both springboards Saturday against the Seahawks. He posted NCAA Zone Diving Championship qualifying marks of 445.27 on the 1-meter board and 468.37 at the 3-meter height to sweep both events. His first-place finishes helped propel the Blue Devil men to a 156.5-143.5 win over UNC Wilmington.

Saturday’s meet marked McCrory’s first collegiate action since he captured his third NCAA title on the platform and garnered All-America accolades across the three disciplines at last spring’s NCAA Championships.

McCrory and the Blue Devils open ACC competition Friday, Nov. 8 in a 2 p.m. clash with NC State in Raleigh before hosting William & Mary in the program’s home opener Saturday, Nov. 9 at 11 a.m. at the Taishoff Aquatic Pavilion.
