What Does Ryan Murphy Get Out of Racing the 100 Freestyle in Season?

2023 PRO SWIM SERIES – MISSION VIEJO

While waiting for his signature 100 and 200 backstrokes, Olympic champion Ryan Murphy raced the 100 free on Day 1 of the Mission Viejo pro swim. Murphy liked the level of fitness he felt he had for the race, noting that he tried to find a rhythm and was able to maintain it during the entirety of the swim.

His 100 Free out of HS was pretty good, 42.95 which was an independent National HS record back in 2012.

Yeah a lot of people don’t realize he’s great at butterfly and freestyle (and IM) too.

maybe he should strictly focus on backstrokers to not lose to high school children in his best event?

Andrew, nice try with the #beardown but you’ve got the wrong school. That’s ‘Zona,
not Cal. I would also venture to say the plan that Murph has used up to this point has worked out pretty well for him. #RollOnYouBears
