Davis, Calif. — On a sunny day at Schaal Aquatics Center, the UC Davis Aggies swam their way to a 163.5-130.5 victory over the visiting UC Santa Barbara Gauchos. Highlighted by a dominant performance in the 100 yard backstroke that saw the Kailee Ruiz, Caroline Eckel, and Emma Hermeston give the Aggies the top three finishers for that event, the Ags stayed consistent throughout the meet and had the top times in six other races.
The A relay group of Eckel, Dani Fasan, Nicole Chong, and Katie McLain in the 200 yard medley relay kicked off the meet with a win for UC Davis. Other top finishers for UC Davis included McLain again in the 50 yard freestyle, Fasan in the 100 yard freestyle, Hermeston in the 200 yard backstroke, Sam Rhodes in the 200 yard breaststroke, while Ashley Ma rounded out the crew, competing in the 100 yard butterfly.
Even though no diving occurred in Davis, the Aggie divers were responsible for getting the team 32 points for the meet as Sydney Wren was a standout yet again finishing as the top scorer in both the 3-Meter (298.40) and 1-Meter (262.42).
The Aggies have a quick turnaround as they are set to host Fresno State for Senior Day tomorrow, Jan. 21 at 12 P.M. PT.
