Swimming Canada will be sending 14 male and 14 female swimmers to the 2013 World Junior Championships in Dubai, UAE beginning on August 26th.
The star of the women’s team is IM’er Sydney Pickrem, who trains in Florida with Becca Mann under Randy Reese. She was a finalist at last year’s Junior Pan Pac Championships in the 200 IM. She just turned 16 this year, and has bests of 2:15.1 in the 200 IM, 4:44.0 in the 400 IM, 2:31.0 in the 200 breast, and 2:11.4 in the 200 backstroke. She’s also shown decent speed of late to boot. She’s seeded 5th in the 400 IM, 6th in the 200 back, and 7th in the 200 IM.

The men’s team is lead by Stefan Milosevic, who will go to UBC in the fall and was the champion of the 200 free at Canada’s Summer Nationals. He is seeded 21st in that same event at Junior Worlds. Luke Reilly, another Summer Nationals champ, is the 8th seed in the boys’ 400 IM with a 4:21.0. Finally, Peter Brothers, younger brother of Will Brothers, is seeded in the top 17 in the 400, 800, and 1500 freestyles.
