SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — UNI swim and diving picked up eleven dual meet victories this weekend at the Coyote Extravaganza in Sioux Falls. The Panthers split with South Dakota while sweeping South Dakota State, St. Thomas, St. Cloud State, Sioux Falls, and Augustana.
Over the two days of competition, Northern Iowa claimed six overall victories. Throughout the twelve total dual meets contested, the Panthers recorded 111 dual meet victories of a total of 144 possibilities.
On day one, junior Hallory Domnick edged USF freshman Weronika Mrozek in the 1000-yard freestyle by two-hundredths of a second, becoming the tenth fastest performer in program history with a 10:36.54. Domnick also picked up five wins in the 200-yard freestyle on day two, coming up three-hundredth short of the overall win.
Sophomore Olivia Chambers recorded the most individual dual victories for the Panthers at 22, including two overall wins. On Friday, she dominated the 400-yard individual medley with a 4:37.38, slightly off her season best form the MVC Showcase. Chambers won a tight race in the 500-yard freestyle with St. Cloud State’s Izzy Koebele on Saturday.
In the sprints, sophomore Faith Larsen continued her streak of in-season best swims with a 23.62 in an overall win in the 50-yard freestyle on Saturday. She totaled 19 total dual victories on the weekend, including five in her first 100-yard butterfly of the season.
In the 200-yard butterfly, junior Scout Bergwall picked up a huge victory for the Panthers. The win marked her first and UNI’s first in the event this season. Domnick finished third and sophomore Abby McCorkle took sixth overall.
Junior Amber Finke crushed the field in the 200-yard backstroke with a 2:03.96 on Saturday. Finke recorded nine additional dual victories, with five coming in the 200-yard freestyle with an in-season best of 1:54.82 and four in the 100-yard freestyle on day one.
On the boards, senior Taylor Hogan only came up short against South Dakota, taking third overall on 1-meter and second overall on 3-meter. Sophomore Hannah Taylor recorded her best score on 1-meter with a 217.50 and sophomore Maddie Moran notched her collegiate best during a third place finish on 3-meter with a 248.35.
Freshmen Sydney Aird and Rachel Lenz picked up their first collegiate dual meet victories in the 200-yard breaststroke and 100-yard individual medley respectively. Senior Helena Heuberger placed second overall with five dual victories in the 100-yard backstroke on Friday.
UP NEXT
The swimmers return to the pool at the Kansas Classic in Topeka from Nov. 18-20. The three day, prelims and finals invitational is hosted by University of Kansas. Next up for the divers is the Hawkeye Invitational on Dec. 1-2 in Iowa City.

Sioux Falls, SD. – St. Cloud State Swim & Dive had an impressive showing over the weekend, competing at the South Dakota Invite on Friday and Saturday. The men’s team was able to pick up wins over multiple Division I teams including, South Dakota, South Dakota State, and St. Thomas. They also took down in-conference competitor Augustana. While the women’s team picked up a win against Division I team St. Thomas and took down Sioux Falls. The women’s team fell to South Dakota, South Dakota State, Northern Iowa, and Augustana.
TOP HUSKIES
- Junior Raf Hendriks earned individual wins in four events over the weekend. On Friday, Hendriks finished first in the 200-yard freestyle (1:41.05) and 100-yard backstroke (48.98) On Saturday, Hendriks won the 200-yard freestyle (1:41.53) and the 200-yard backstroke (1:48.98).
- Senior Jayden Porter picked up a win in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:07.66).
- Grad Student Abe Townley earned three individual wins over the weekend. On Friday, Townley won the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 20.24. On Saturday, Townley won the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 20.11 and the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 46.30.
- Freshman Izzy Koebele had multiple top three finishes to lead the Husky women. On Friday, Koebele finished third in the 1000-yard freestyle (10:46.17). On Saturday, Koebele finished third in the 1650-yard freestyle (18:07.61) and second in the 500-yard freestyle (5:15.85).
