Israeli National Champion Tomer Goldfaden Commits to Hawaii (2021)

Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Israel’s Tomer Goldfaden has committed Hawaii for fall 2021. He’s the younger brother of Itay Goldfaden, who swam for South Carolina in the SEC and won the 2020 SEC title in the 100 breast (51.35).

I’m proud to announce that I have signed with the University of Hawai’i at Mānoa Swimming and Diving program. I will join the program in the fall of 2021 and I’m extremely excited to call myself a Rainbow warrior. GO BOWS!!! 🤙🏽🤙🏽 #hawaiiathletics

TOP TIMES (LCM / SCY conv.)

  • 100 breast – 1:01.91 / 52.81
  • 200 breast – 2:19.12 / 1:58.65
  • 50 free – 23.50 / 20.11

Goldfaden recently competed at the Israeli Winter Championships in December, where he clocked lifetime bests in the 100 breast and 200 breast. He won the national title in the 100 breast and finished runner-up in the 200 breast.

With his converted times, Goldfaden should be an immediate boost to the Hawaii program. Hawaii just graduated their top three breaststrokers, including NCAA scorer Olli Kokko (51.71/1:55.33). Goldfaden would’ve been #2 in the 100 breast and #3 in the 200 breast on Hawaii’s roster last season, though he will likely take over as their top breaststroker next season.

Hawaii dominated the 2020 MPSF Championships, and they had four men in the 200 breast A-final and three in the 100 A-final. With is conversions, Goldfaden would’ve made both A-finals, and he would’ve been the conference runner-up behind Kokko in the 100. In the 50 free, Goldfaden would’ve also been an A-finalist.

It took a 52.46 to get invited to the 2020 NCAA Championships in the 100 breast, and Goldfaden could realistically push for NCAA qualification as a freshman if his conversions work out.

Goldfaden joins Logan Euker in Hawaii’s incoming class.
