FINIS Celebrates 20 Years of Motivating Swimmers

FINIS, a world leader in technical swimming products that maximize your fitness potential and technique, announces their 20th anniversary in business today.  FINIS CEO, John Mix, and Olympic Gold Medalist, Pablo Morales, founded the company in 1993 with the vision to motivate every person in the world to swim better, swim often and train smarter.  FINIS celebrates this vision today with an online discount for customers and a taco party for employees.

FINIS has been leading up to their anniversary with a marketing campaign that includes creating a new logo for the 2013 year and posting historical company pictures on Facebook and Twitter.

Today, FINIS thanks their customers for their loyalty by offering an online discount of up to 40 percent for some of their original flagship products.  These products include the Monofin, Swimmer’s Snorkel and Tempo Trainer Pro.  The one-day online sale is accessible at http://www.finisinc.com/20-year-sale.html.

Internally, the employees will be honoring Mix with a plaque commemorating the milestone and indulging in a taco bar fiesta.  When asked about the 20thanniversary, Mix said,

“Looking back from where it all started, I can say that I have truly enjoyed the past 20 years. When you are passionate about the cause, it’s hard to call it work.

We have taken many risks and brought to market some crazy product ideas. But all the while, we felt that the products brought something different and positive to the swimming world.

In the end, the remarkable growth and success of FINIS is the result of a dedicated staff. By sticking to our company vision, we have pushed our sport forward.  With this great team, there is no doubt that the next 20 years will be even more exciting than the first 20.”

FINIS’ Monofin and Swimmer’s Snorkel were the company’s breakout products in the late 1990’s.  Used as a muscle strengthening training tool, the Foil Monofin helps swimmers learn to use the entire body to create a powerful and undulating dolphin kick through the water.  The Swimmer’s Snorkel allows swimmers to focus on technique without the need to turn the head to breathe.  Both of these products were the first of their kind to be introduced into the swimming market for training purposes.

Currently, FINIS produces a wide-range of innovative swimming products from fins to paddles to electronics.  By focusing on their vision to motivate swimmers, FINIS continues to improve technical training for swimmers of all ability levels.

About FINIS

Founded in 1993 in Northern California, FINIS was started by John Mix and Olympic Gold Medal Swimmer Pablo Morales. The Monofin and the Swimmer’s Snorkel were the first products they developed for the US market; afterwards, they continued to focus on creating training tools for swimmers and coaches worldwide. FINIS products are currently available in over 65 countries and are used by US and International Olympic teams, elite triathletes, and fitness swimmers.

Innovative research and design is FINIS’ highest priority. This dedication has resulted in truly unique products such as: the Swimmer’s Snorkel, which is recognized as the paramount tool to improve a swimmer’s technique, the SwiMP3 that uses bone conduction technology to play music instead of using ear buds, and the Z2 Zoomers fins, which demonstrate an intimate understanding of swimming musculature, hydrodynamics, and engineering.
