After a disappointing 2012 Olympics in London Fran Halsall has learned a lot and has been focusing on enjoying herself again.

Halsall expressed her feelings to Yahoo UK & Ireland ,“After the Olympics I literally went home and probably spent a good six weeks moping around, I didn’t attend the parade and I didn’t speak about if for at least a month afterwards,” said Halsall.

“I didn’t look at anything to do with the Olympics, I just couldn’t bring myself to, and I came to the worlds because Sports Personality was on and I didn’t want to celebrate that either.”

“Everyone else did an amazing job and I just didn’t feel like I wanted to celebrate that kind of stuff. It has taken a good eight weeks of training to start to feel like myself and I have got good people around me who believe in me and inspire me and it is good.”

After shaking off the initial disappointment and heart ache she told the Metro, “I went to California and tried to get a bit of perspective. Not winning a medal made me doubt my ability but you can’t do that in my event, where it’s so close.”

“It’s only the last few weeks I’ve wanted to talk about it. I’ve thought about the positives and the negatives and wrote them down for the future.”

“I wanted to come and enjoy swimming again. The only reason I came was because I needed to start enjoying racing again and knowing how to swim fast and how to win,”

She has started her life after the Olympics by having a very productive short course world championships walking away with a silver in the 50 freestyle.

Going forward British Swimming will have less funds to work with, £3.7 million to be exact. Although Halsall knows that money is important she does not feel that will take anything away from the goals she and her new James Gibson plan to achieve.

“It’s not on my radar because I’ve got a new coach and the facilities at Loughborough are not changing, so I’m in a good place,” Hasall told The Sun.

“Whatever happens with the funding, British Swimming will distribute it to the best of their ability and we’ll just work with it.”

“We’re not going to go moaning and complaining if we get less.”

“Obviously funding helps, we’re not multi-millionaires. It’s a big benefit, but we tend to do it for the love of swimming more than anything else.”

I still maintain the belief that she is one of the top 3 most talented female sprinter out there. She beat Kromowidjojo everytime they raced their entire junior careers and most of the time as a senior, only slower than Ranomi in 2012. If Halsall clicks she is a 52. freestyler.
