2019 USA SWIMMING SPEEDO JUNIOR NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS

In another young field at tonight’s US Junior Nationals, 14-year-old Grace Rainey of SwimMac Carolina came in 5th place with a personal best of 1:09.42. Rainey had already set a best time today, clocking a 1:10.60 in the morning, which was just under her 1:10.70 she came into the meet with. The 14-year-old also came home very fast, splitting 36.34 on the 2nd 50. For reference, Rainey’s 2nd 50 split was faster than everyone in the field, except the champion, Lydia Jacoby (1:08.12 – 36.16), whose time ranks her #6 all-time for 15-16 girls.

Rainey’s swim makes her the #3 performer all-time for 13-14 girls. Amanda Beard holds the National Age Group Record at a stunning 1:08.09 from 1996.

Here is the current top 10 for 13-14 girls all-time:

  1. Amanda Beard (1996) – 1:08.09
  2. Megan Jendrick (1998) – 1:09.14
  3. Grace Rainey (2019) – 1:09.42
