From Omaha To Rio: Follow Team USA’s Extraordinary Video Journey

Before the 2016 FINA World Short Course Championships kick-off in Windsor tomorrow, relive some of the team-building moments of the U.S. Olympic squad as the athletes journeyed from Omaha, Nebraska to Rio de Janeiro, site of the 2016 Games.

Get swept up in the team spirit as Olympians such as Missy Franklin, Maya DiRado, Anthony Ervin, Michael Phelps, Leah Smith and Katie Ledecky warm-up in Atlanta, travel via bus to competition venues and bask in the sun outside of Rio’s Olympic Aquatic Stadium. Catch inspirational quotes from USA National Team Director Frank Busch as he conveys to swimmers, “Follow your plan – the plan that got you here and the plan that’s going to get you to the next level. Let’s not let anything stand in our way.”

The final scene of the throwback video entails the entire squad collectively singing ‘God Bless America.’ Nathan Adrian, Jack Conger, Elizabeth Beisel, Ryan Lochte are among the swimmers belting out the traditional patriotic tune, which may wind up making you think you caught something in your eye.

This team seemed like just that – a team. Pulling together, feeding off of momentum and good swims, supporting and enjoying each other. Fun to watch.

That’s too bad given the fact that they never stepped foot inside that gas station restroom

Sad is not my choice of word if that’s the video that you can rembember. Choose a sport to watch that you actually enjoy watching next Olympics. Those of us that enjoy the sport if swimming left that incident in Brazil. We Americans are forgiving people and have already moved on.
