University of Wyoming Adds Two: Katelyn Blattner and Gabrielle Limon

KATELYN BLATTNER

Katelyn Blattner of the Wichita Aqua Shocks (perhaps the best name for a swim club) is a rangy freestyler who can sprint as well as put up strong mid-distance swims.

I chose the University of Wyoming because it felt like it will be my home away from home. The wide variety of majors, AWESOME team, AMAZING coaches, and beautiful campus were the key factors in making my decision. I can’t wait to call myself a Cowgirl!! GO POKES :)))

  • 500 free – 4:58.55
  • 200 back – 2:04.66

Blattner swims for Wichita Heights High School as well. At the Kansas 5A State Championships, Blattner was a double state champ, taking both the 200 free and 500 free in best times. She also swam on two relays for Wichita Heights.

GABRIELLE LIMON

Gabrielle Limon is a distance freestyler/butterflier from the Golden West Swim Club in the Los Angeles area. She is a senior at Edison High School in Huntington Beach.

TOP TIMES

  • 500 free – 4:59.78
  • 1650 free – 17:30.11
  • 100 fly – 57.93
  • 200 fly – 2:07.17

WHERE THEY FIT IN

Both Blattner and Limon are strong in the freestyle, and they would’ve each qualified for the 500 free C final at the 2016 Mountain West Championships. Limon will need to get closer to the 17-minute mark to score in the mile, though she’d have made the 200 fly C final with her lifetime best in that event.

Meanwhile, Blattner is at C final scoring level in her 200 free and is within striking range of scoring in the 200 back C final. Additionally, with her 200 free strength, Blattner is quick enough to make an immediate bid for a spot on Wyoming’s 800 free relay.
