Bahamian Sprinter Gershwin Greene Commits To Virginia Tech

The Virginia Tech men have brought in a new verbal commitment, as Tennessee-based sprinter Gershwin Greene has committed to swim for the Hokies. Greene is from the Bahamas, but currently resides in Chattanooga, TN where he attends the Baylor School.

Last season at the 2016 Tennessee High School championships, Greene was a member of the winning 200 free relay and the 3rd place 200 medley relay, putting up 50 free splits of 20.67 and 20.02, respectively. Individually, he was a championship finalist in both sprint free races, placing 5th in the 50 and 8th in the 100.

Over the summer, Greene represented the Bahamas in the 50 and 100 freestyles at the 2016 Junior Pan Pacific Championships in Maui. There, he clocked times of 23.68 in the 50 and 53.41 in the 100. His 50 free was good enough to get him into the B-final, where he placed 15th overall.

Congratulations Gershwin! VT is an excellent choice and an equally excellent stepping stone to Tokyo 2020!
I know the campus well and from what I see when I visit my daughter who attends the Vet School at VT, I know you will have awesome facilities and be in an environment where the school spirit is super high.
