Alabama Women Add Danish Swimmer Line Bruun To 2016-17 Roster

The University of Alabama women have added Danish swimmer Line Bruun to their roster for the 2016-17 season. Like many international recruits when they initially come to the NCAA, Bruun doesn’t have any experience in the short course yards pool yet, but she has competed in both long course and short course meters.

As an incoming freshman, Bruun will add depth to the Crimson Tide’s freestyle lineup, as she’s had success in the freestyle events ranging from the 50 to the 1500. She also brings some versatility that makes her fit for their IM group, giving the Alabama coaches some options for where to put her in dual meet lineups.

The Alabama women didn’t have any scorers in the 500 free at SECs last season, and the 400 free is one of her strong events, so that gives Bruun an opportunity to immediately make an impact. Her best time in the 400 SCM free is a 4:09.34 from November 2015, which converts to a 4:46-mid in the 500 yard free. Last season, it took a 4:47 to make it back for a scoring swim at SECs.

Bruun’s Best Times:

Event LCM Time SCM Time
100 Free 57.21 55.42
200 Free 2:01.92 1:57.89
400 Free 4:17.05 4:09.34
800 Free 9:06.77 8:49.06
200 IM 2:19.70 2:15.14
400 IM 4:57.69 4:46.29

Last season, the Alabama women placed 10th at the 2016 SEC Championships. Three of Bruun’s likely training partners, Temarie Tomley, Mia Nonnenberg, and Bridget Blood, were all scorers at that meet. Nonnenberg had the highest finish of the group, placing 9th in the 400 IM with a 4:06.99 that would’ve landed her 4th had she made it into the championship final.
