New Jersey state champion Julieyanna Parker has verbally committed to the University of San Diego Toreros. The senior at Hillsborough High School won the 100-yard fly at both the 2013-14 (55.36) and the 2014-15 (54.45) NJ State Championships. The freestyle/butterfly specialist is a member of the Somerset Hills YMCA Swim Club in Basking Ridge, NJ.

Parker shares a bit of her family swimming history, she is the youngest of four siblings, (who are all swimmers) and is continuing the legacy of swimming, handed down from my grandma, to her nine kids, to her 25 grand-kids.

Parker’s best times are as follows:

  • 100-yard fly: 54.45
  • 200-yard fly: 2:00.11
  • 50-yard free: 23.79
  • 100-yard free: 51.68
  • 200-yard free: 1:52.59

The campus is absolutely beautiful, the team is amazing, the town itself gives off great vibes, and who wouldn’t love the warm weather? – Parker

Parker’s best times would have made a record-setting impact last season for the Toreros. Her best 100-yard and 200-yard fly times beat the top times posted by the women’s team. Her freestyle events would have also seeded her in seasons top 3 times, placing her 2nd in the 50-yard and 100-yard free and 3rd in the 200-yard free. Both her fly events personal best would have made an impact at the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Championships, placing her 2nd and 5th in the A final of the 200-yard and 100-yard fly respectively.
