Junior National Team member Mallory Comerford helped propel the Louisville Cardinals to a dominant victory over Xavier, winning both the 200 and 500 freestyles individually. On the men’s side, Louisville’s Trevor Carroll earned individual victories in three events to lead the men’s team to victory as well. The Louisville women won 173-83 while the Louisville men won 179-78.
Comerford is the first swimmer of the year to post a NCAA D1 “B” cut in the women’s 200 freestyle, winning with a final time of 1:47.81. She also put up a strong 4:51.20 to win her only other individual event, the women’s 500 freestyle.
The only other double event winners on the women’s side were Louisville senior Kelsi Worrell and freshman Rachael Bradford-Feldman. She won the 50 freestyle with an NCAA “B” cut time of 22.92 and posted a 50.22 to win the 100 freestyle. Freshman Bradford-Feldman also had a big day. She ran away with the women’s 200 breaststroke, posting a “b” cut time of 2:15.21. She later won the women’s 200 IM in 2:02.57.
On the men’s side, Louisville junior Trevor Carroll swept three individual freestyle events to push the Cardinals well ahead of Xavier. Carroll posted a 9:23.88 to win the 1000 freestyle and then followed that with a 20.75 to win the 50 freestyle. His final individual win came in the 100 freestyle with a time of 45.39.
Four different Louisville swimmers doubled up, winning multiple individual events during the meet. Matthias Lindenbauer won the 200 and 500 freestyles 1:38.49 and 4:40.34, respectively, Carlos Claverie swept the breaststroke events, winning the 100 in 56.69 and the 200 in 2:01.85, and the final double winner was senior Nolan Tesone. Tesone won the 200 fly with a time of 1:51.77 and then won the 200 IM with a 1:49.95.
