Georgia Bulldogs Get Commitment From Sandra Scott

Freestyler, Sandra Scott has committed to swim under head coach Jack Bauerle at the University of Georgia in Fall 2016. She is from Midway, GA, and was a three-time finalist at the 2015 Georgia Senior Long Course State Championships and qualified for Winter Junior Nationals in the 100-yard free and 200-yard free.

After committing, Scott said, “I’m so thrilled that UGA is my new home for the next four years! I chose Georgia because of the combination of amazing athletics and academics. The campus was beautiful, and I fell in love with the team and the coaches. I couldn’t be happier to become a part of such a fantastic program! I am so grateful for the support of my family, friends, and my coach, Bill Forrester, who has always pushed me and motivated me to become better. ”

Her best SCY and LCM times are as follows:

  • 50-yard freestyle: 24.55                                 50 freestyle LCM: 27.68
  • 100-yard freestyle: 51.79                              100 freestyle LCM: 58.37
  • 200-yard freestyle: 1:50.94                         200 freestyle LCM: 2:04.85
  • 500-yard freestyle: 5:03.18                         400 freestyle LCM:4:28.11

Scott has continuously dropped time over the last two years in different events and her steady improvements will be a great fit for the number two nationally ranked team. UGA is known for its success with freestyle swimmers, having produced 31 individual freestyle National Championships since 1999.

She is eager to start her college career in her home state,  saying that”living in Georgia my whole life, I grew up a Georgia fan, and I am overjoyed for the opportunity to represent the bulldogs!”

Scott also has hopes of competing at the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo to represent Finland, “My mom is from Finland, and I have a dual citizenship, so hopefully, with the guidance of Georgia’s coaching staff, I can compete for Finland in the 2020 Olympics.”
