Team USA Leads WUGS Through Day 4 With 21 Swimming Medals

2015 WORLD UNIVERSITY GAMES

With 22 of 42 swimming events completed at the 2015 World University Games, Team USA is dominating the medal count with 21 of the 66 awarded medals. Japan has separated themsevles from the field as well and has a firm grasp on second place in the team standings.

Leah Smith and Josh Prenot made big contributions today, each winning an individual gold medal. Prenot won the men’s 200 breaststroke while Smith won the women’s 400 freestyle and was also a member of the women’s winning 4×200 freestyle relay.

Tomorrow is a smaller day with only three final events. Team USA is in position to do well, however. Andrea Cottrell and Molly Hannis both qualified for finals in the 200 breaststroke, Jack Conger and Seth Stubblefield will be swimming in the 100 freestyle, where Conger is the top seed, and Felicia Lee earned a spot in the women’s 100 butterfly final.
