Sarah Thompson Breaks NCAA D3 1650 Record

The record set in 2010 by Caroline Wilson of Williams fell tonight to her teammate Sarah Thompson in Thompson’s senior year. Thompson was out right with her teammate Megan Pierce at the 100, then took over the lead at the 150 and never looked back. Across the race she split mostly 29s with a smattering of 30s to post what was the best time by a Division III woman ever by over four seconds.

Thompson’s final time was a 16:21.44. She was more than twenty seconds ahead of the runner up.
