Queens women break NCAA Division II 400 free relay record to close title run, Drury women also top mark

The women of Queens University took down one final NCAA Division II record to cap off their national title run, going 3:18.75 to get under the old record by exactly one second.

That was powered by a 49.08 leadoff leg from Patricia Castro, who etched her name into the record books plenty over the course of this week. Also on the squad were Lillian Gordy, Alexandra Marshall and Caroline Arakelian, with Gordy putting up a nice 49.50 split.

Drury, who previously owned the national record, also got under the old mark. Wen Xu led off in 49.96 and Janet Yu had the field’s fastest overall split with a 48.42 to help Drury go 2:19.24.
