Video Interview: Mainville Sisters Set Up For 1-2 Finish In 100 Free

In an early interview with us just prior to the start of the 2015 CIS Championships, Sandrine Mainville said that it was a goal of hers and her sisters to finish 1-2 in the sprint freestyles.

The two came close earlier in the meet as they both reached a spot on the podium in the 50. Sandrine Mainville won with Ariane Mainville finishing third overall.

Tonight, on day three, they’re the top two seeds heading into the women’s 100m freestyle final. There, Sandrine Mainville will have a chance to repeat as the recipient of the sprinters cup; an award given to any swimmer who wins both the 100 and 50 freestyles at any edition of the CIS Championships.

Not only will she have the chance to receive the sprinters cup, but the two will have one more go at finishing 1-2 in a freestyle event. The two distances themselves from the rest of the field this morning, except for Toronto’s Paige Schultz who took the third seed close behind them.
