In the lead-up to the Pac-12 and NCAA Championships, the University of California hosted press conferences with head women’s swim coach Teri McKeever and star sophomore Missy Franklin, who is in her final season with Cal before she’ll turn pro.

SwimSwam’s Loretta Race covered the press conference yesterday, and you can read her recap here. The full videos are now available; we’ve got Franklin’s interview above and McKeever’s below. Both are courtesy of the Cal Bears on YouTube.

At the 7:28 mark in Missy’s press conference, I’m pretty sure the reporter called her Natalie. Oops.

Great interview. I am glad that Missy Franklin will now be able to accept the money that has been coming her way for quite some time now.

What was with the guy asking about the “amateur olympics”? Why was he having so much trouble understanding the idea of going pro?

Yeah, that “amateur Olympics” bit was a really dumb line of questioning from a guy who obviously doesn’t know his Olympic history. Missy handled that very well.
