Is Jorge Murillo (Event 4) really 33? Not throwing shade, but not sure how that qualifies as “futures”

I liked this meet with the old format. “Futures” was a good pick for a name… now with these many college swimmers swimming in it, it’s just a different meet and the purpose has shifted for sure. Sad for those kids who have no business now swimming at this meet.

What summer championship are college swimmers without Summer Championship cuts supposed to compete at? Or do we just operate under the assumption that once swimmers turn 18 they no longer deserve development opportunities?

This is the idea behind the CSU Bakersfield college summer meet…there’s a big gap for these kinds of swimmers right now.

That’s what Sectionals were for…

Wait Sectionals are for college aged swimmers and Futures are not?

Funny because every year we get a ton of complaints about college aged swimmers (and even Olympians) showing up at Sectionals.

Braden, Futures started as a meet for 18&U. Swimmers 18&U with a Summer National cut were not allowed to swim that event at the meet. The idea was to mimic what NCSAs is doing with the main goal of developing the next generation – hence the name “futures”

While I understand the point you made for college swimmers who need a meet at the end of summer, I have to agree and I see Sectionals as their opportunity to race. Though, I also get that the rules as they stand right now, allow them to participate.

Check out the results at the Madison meet where there are at least 6 college teams in attendance – some are even NCAA finalists.… Read more »

Still 10 spots are taken… and check out how many college swimmer don’t make it back compared to how many make it back.

A decent college swimmer makes the A final – no problem. A decent young swimmer who might have had a shot at the A final now is in the C.

Again, I find not fair to these young swimmers. Maybe you do

No matter how much Auburn beats up on the Age Groupers at Futures, they ain’t going to win SEC’s.

Cynthia Woodhead at age 14 also swam 1:58.53 in the 200 Free, a WR at the time in 1978. Legend only shows Weinstein as record holder with the same time.

The women’s 100 breast combined results are incorrect here, some people missing, some people listed at the wrong sites…

Can someone tell me why no one went to Justin? The woman’s 400 IM had only 12 swimmers in Justin. In Greensboro there were 13 heats!

My understanding is the air quality is terrible at the pool! Kids end up sick and in the hospital

Because the pool is terrible- atrocious air quality. Maybe with the amount of swimmers there for this meet it’s ok but for large meets it’s awful

It’s a sad, sad commentary on air quality issues at pools in North Texas, especially considering they are some of the nicest pools around… and so many: Justin, Lewisville, Mansfield, Arlington, Frisco, Prosper, Garland, Dallas…
