The 2026 Australian Age Championships saw day two action unfold from the Gold Coast Aquatic Centre, with 17-year-old breaststroke ace Sienna Toohey taking center stage in her pet event.
Albury Amateur Swimming Club’s Sienna Toohey ripped a new lifetime best of 1:06.43 en route to grabbing the gold and getting to the wall over two seconds ahead of the field.
The next-closest swimmer was Rockey City’s Amelie Smith, who secured silver in 1:08.65, followed closely by Rackley’s Keahne Bergin, who landed on the podium in 1:08.80 for the bronze.
As for Toohey, her 1:06.43 performance this evening sliced .12 off her previous personal best of 1:06.55 notched at last year’s Aussie World Championship Trials.
Her new PB established a new All Comers Record for 17-year-old girls, overtaking the 1:06.78 that Japan’s Kanako Watanabe put on the books over a decade ago in 2014.
Additionally, Toohey’s performance falls just .06 outside Olympic icon Leisel Jones‘ Aussie Age Record of 1:06.37 established in 2003.
| Toohey’s New PB – 1:06.43 | Toohey’s Old PB – 1:06.55 |
| 31.46 | 31.18 |
| 34.97 | 35.37 |
For perspective, Toohey’s time would rank her as the 4th-fastest American 17-and-18-year-old in history, tying Olympic champion and world record holder Lilly King.
Only 10 women from any country, aged 17 or younger, have been faster than Toohey ever: Ruta Meilutyte, Lydia Jacoby, Yulia Efimova, Benedetta Pilato, Kasey Carlson, Tang Qianting, Kanako Watanabe, Evgeniia Chikunova, Eneli Jefimova, and Leisel Jones.
Toohey entered this competition ranked 8th in the world, courtesy of the 1:06.69 put up just last month at the Australian Open. She remains slotted 8th on the season.

Is there an easy place to find NAG rankings? I can find records but there doesn’t seem to be an easily searchable source for NAG rankings.
Who are the other two ahead of Toohey besides Jacoby?
I see Sienna is 0.19 off Jacoby’s 50 breast NAG as well
For the US? https://data.usaswimming.org/datahub/alltimetop100search
You can also use Nuotomondiale and search by age for a global rank, presuming the swim has made the top 1000 swims in history.
Swimmers 17 and younger, faster than Toohey, all-time per NM are:
-Ruta
-Jacoby
-Efimova
-Pilato
-Kasey Carlson
