USA Swimming National Junior Team Member Ethan Harder from Billings, Montana has announced his intention to swim for the Texas Longhorns beginning in the fall of 2019 as part of the class of 2023. Harder is #11 on our list of top-20 recruits from the high school class of 2019. He will join fellow commits Caspar Corbeau, (#6), Jake Foster (#1), and Peter Larson (HM) in Austin.

“I’m extremely excited to announce my verbal to the University of Texas.  The team, coaches, atmosphere, and academics are all amazing.  I want to thank my parents, coaches, and teammates.  Hook’em Horns”

Harder won the 200 back at 2017 Winter Junior Nationals West in a Montana State Record of 1:43.04. He also finaled in the 100 back, 200 IM, and 200 fly. This past March at Speedo Senior Sectionals in Federal Way, he won the 100/200 back in 47.5 and 1:43, was runner-up in the 200 IM (1:47.7), placed third in the 400 IM (3:51.5), and was fourth in the 200 fly (1:46.8). Last summer he was a C-finalist in the 200 back at World Championship Trials, going a 2:01.9. He then capped off his summer by taking second in the same event at Summer Junior Nationals with a 2:00.1, which put him into the World Top 100 in the event.

Harder does his year-round swimming with the Billings Aquatic Club under the coaching of Sean Marshall. At the BAC he has expanded his events to give him an IMX score of over 5,000 points. He currently holds seven Montana State Open Records for the fastest male swimmer in Montana in the 50/100/200 backstrokes, 100/200 fly, and 200/400 IM.
