Defending CIF Central Coast Sectional Champ Sheldon Boboff has committed to Duke University for next fall. Boboff is a sprint freestyler who specializes in the 100-200 free combo, and he won the 200 free at last year’s CSS meet representing St. Ignatius. He then went on to finish 6th in both the 100 and 200 free at the CIF State Champs.

Boboff’s Top Times

  • 50y free – 21.15
  • 100y free – 45.40
  • 200y free – 1:38.27
  • 200y IM – 1:52.20
  • 100m free – 52.22
  • 200m free – 1:52.67

Boboff has his Winter Nationals cuts in the 200 yard and meter free, and is a Winter Juniors qualifier in both course 100 free events.

Last season, Boboff would’ve been Duke’s #6 100 freestyler and #4 200 freestyle, as well as their #5 200 IMer. While the Blue Devils’ 800 relay quartet was made up of exclusively underclassmen last year, Boboff has a good shot at contending for one of those relay spots.

He would’ve have made any finals at the ACC Champs last season, though he would’ve been just a couple tenths off of making it back in the 200 free C final. Boboff chose Duke “because of the incredible athletic program combined with a world class education. The team dynamic is awesome and I couldn’t be more excited for the next four years.”

Duke has a big class shaping up already, with the likes of the following:
