Winter Juniors Qualifier Anakin Fischer (2024) Commits to Mizzou

Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Anakin Fischer, a Winter Juniors qualifier from Wisconsin, has announced his commitment to the University of Missouri for the 2024-2025 season.

I am so excited to finally announce my verbal commitment to the University of Missouri. I think the coaching staff, facilities, and academic resources will help me in my future endeavors. I would like to give thanks to my coaches, family and friends as well as my parents and sister for helping me get to where I am now. I cannot wait to be a tiger and join the Mizzou family! M-I-Z!

Fischer currently attends Arrowhead High School and swims with the Waukesha Express Swim Team. He is a 13-time Wisconsin Club State Champion, 7- time Relay WI State Record Holder, an Elected WI LSC Athlete Representative, and USA Swimming Scholastic All-American.

Best Times, SCY:

  • 200 free- 1:40.69
  • 500 free- 4:32.85
  • 1650 free- 15:42.33
  • 100 breast- 58.01
  • 200 breast- 2:05.88
  • 400 IM- 4:07.32

Recently, Fischer competed at the 2023 Wisconsin Boys Division 1 (Big Schools) State Championships. There, he swam the individual 200 and 500 yard freestyles, as well as being a member of Arrowhead’s 200 and 400 freestyle relays.

Fischer set a new personal best in the 200 freestyle, dropping .38 seconds to go 1:40.69 and finish in 7th place. In the 500, he finished 3rd in a time of 4:35.09, just over 2 seconds off his best from March of 2022. His 200 free relay split was 21.49, and his 400 free relay split was 46.35. The teams finished in 4th and 2nd, respectively.

The Mizzou men competed at the 2023 SEC Championships in February, finishing 6th out of 10 teams. While Fischer’s current times wouldn’t necessarily make the conference roster, he still has a whole year of high school left before joining the Tigers. Additionally, he will be stepping into a very sparse mid- and distance freestyle group.

At this year’s SEC Championships, graduate student Jack Dahlgren took the top spot for the Tigers in the 200 free, finishing 2nd in 1:31.34. Mizzou didn’t send anyone to finals in the 500, with Mikolaj Malec finishing in 4:23.13 for 29th.

In Fischer’s best event- the 1650- there was only one swimmer for Missouri. Current freshman Ben Louis finished 29th in 15:31.42.

So far, Missouri has received four men’s commitments for 2024. Joining Fischer will be Matthew Judkins, Trey Cunneen, and Conner Boatright. Boatright and Fischer are on track to make good training partners, as Boatright also specializes in the 200 and 500 yard freestyles, going 1:40.06 and 4:25.16, respectively.
