For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Kaden Guzman, a Winter Juniors Finalist and U.S. Open qualifier has announced his commitment to Arizona State. From Omaha, Nebraska, Guzman is expected to join the Sun Devils ahead of the 2023-2024 season.

Arizona State has a tremendous program with high caliber coaches and swimmers. I believe ASU has the right tools to bring my career to the next level. Coach Bowman is such a highly decorated coach, along with Coach Behm and I am super excited to be under their expertise. FORKS UP!!

Guzman currently attends Westside High School in Omaha and swims with the Inspire Swim Team in Elkhorn, NE.

Primarily a breaststroke specialist, he swam the 100 breast at the 2022 Winter U.S. Open Championships, finishing in 51st with a new personal best of 1:05.62 (LCM).

Best Times SCY:

  • 50 free- 21.16
  • 100 breast- 54.32
  • 200 breast- 2:04.74
  • 200 IM- 1:53.92

In December, Guzman competed at the 2022 Winter Speedo Junior Championships in the 50 free, 100 breast, and 200 breast. He set new personal bests in both breastroke events, dropping .32 seconds in the 100 and .51 seconds in the 200. In the 100, he finished 7th with a 54.32. His 200 time was 2:04.74, coming in 74th.

Arizona State competes in the Pac-12 Conference. At the 2023 Conference Championships, they finished first out of six teams.

They went on to have a spectacular NCAA Championships performance. Sophomore Leon Marchand and freshman Hubert Kos led the team to a 2nd place finish for the first time in program history. Previously, they had never finished higher than 6th.

Guzman’s best 100 breast time would have finished in the C-final at this year’s Pac-12 Championships. Three Sun Devils would have finished ahead of him, all three of whom are expected to return for the 2023-2024 season.

The Sun Devils are looking to build on their current momentum with the incoming class of 2023. Joining Guzman will be Filip Senc-Samardizic, Leo Roden, Ilya Kharun, and Asher Havenhill, all of whom own times that would have finaled at the 2023 Pac-12 Championships.
