The Team USA flagbearer finished the Rio Games with 6+ medals for the fourth straight Olympics, winning five gold and a silver. His first individual gold was a reclamation of sorts, winning the 200m butterfly after placing second in 2012. Phelps achieved another historical marker by becoming the first swimmer to win the same event in four straight Olympic Games when he ran away with the 200m IM by nearly 2 seconds. I will never forget his leg in the 400 free relay in Rio – What a blast that was – It just created the victory margin that Usa never gave away . Thank u buddy , it was a fantastic finish .

So much respect. I think it will be along time before we will see another swimmer accomplish as much as he has.

I know that Michael played a big part in the success of the 2004, 2008 and 2012 US Olympic Swim Teams, but it seems like his influence in Rio was magnified x 10! To see the way he interacted with his teammates and the way star swimmers like Murphy and Dressel looked at him with respect and admiration was really special; I am so grateful to him for making this “comeback”, arguably the most successful one in swimming history!

I completely agree which is why I’m so happy that the comeback actually happened. This was a GREAT final note.
