The Westmont stop of the 2026 Pro Swim Series kicked off tonight with the women’s 800 free, where we were treated to a duel between Ledecky and McIntosh. Day 1 also featured with the men’s and women’s 200 backstroke, 50 butterfly, and 200 breaststroke, and semifinals of the 100 free.
Since the live stream missed several key races, SwimSwam has tracked down race videos from the night. Unfortunately no footage is available for the semifinals.
If you missed any of the action throughout the weekend, check out the links above for SwimSwam’s session-by-session recaps.

It’s hard to take USA Swimming seriously when they say they are trying to grow the sport and can’t even get home soil pro series events on video. We have run of the mill age group meets live streamed on team YouTube channels, and these Olympians are competing in a void.
100%. I follow swimming pretty closely and I sometimes don’t hear about these meets until a day or two out. Stands look fairly empty – what are they charging for tickets?
At the US Open and PSS in Austin it was $10 per session (and maybe $50 for all sessions).
$75 all session pass, $10 prelims sessions, $20 finals.
I’m not really surprised at Summer’s slower time. The French coach seemed to place greater emphasis on the 800 than Bowman does.
If Summer is going to take down that number she’ll have to do it self motivated at Canadian Trials some year. Difficult to believe the event will become a major priority given 2028 schedule placement.
Slower time? She’s been under 8:10 in season once (8:09.8). When she beat Ledecky two years ago she went 8:11. As for her performances under Vergnoux, they included a surprising loss to Ledecky in the 400 in Ft. Lauderdale last year. She decided not to swim the 800 (and that meet was much further into the year). Yet we saw what she did not long after that at Canadian Nationals and Worlds. I’m sure she would’ve preferred to win but her time tonight is in line with the last couple of years. You may be overthinking it. We won’t get a feel for how training with Bowman translates until the Summer.
Also, within the last year, I’ve seen Leon Marchand do a 200 Back/200 IM double, a 200 Fly/200 Breast double and now a 200 Back/200 Breast double. Ugh, this all seems very painful.
Wonder if he is training to win Olympic medals in all five 200m events in 2028 🤯
As I just said in the main thread: USA Swimming, put up the semis in the 100 free!
They’re are videos?
I thought tonight was double secret probation night with no electronics allowed at the meet!
We desperately need a SOMEONE to cover all high profile meets. As a fan, I’d want to watch everything from pros, college, and even high profile HS meets. So frustrating.
Re: videos/streaming
I want to echo someone else’s suggestion in the main meet thread that the streaming debacle tonight (and to a lesser extent the un-live results) deserves its own SwimSwam article. This is important to the future of our sport. We need to know whats gonna change — especially if USA Swimming is going to be asking for more of our money.
