ASHEVILLE, N.C. – UNC Asheville Women’s Swimming and Diving rallied past Georgia Southern on Saturday (Dec. 13) at the Justice Center Pool by a score of 158.5-141.5 to extend the program’s home winning streak to 16 in a row dating back to October 2020.
Following the sixth event of the day in the 200 fly, the Bulldogs trailed by as many as 36 points in the meet. Asheville went on to post eight straight event wins and pull away in the final relay to mount a massive comeback at home.
Senior Anna Marcotti paced the Bulldogs with three individual wins on the day, taking the 200 free (1:55.03), the 50 free (24.30) and the 100 free (52.91). Marcotti also led the winning 200 free relay team with a split of 24.29. Senior Gracelyn Cox posted two individual wins in the meet, winning the 100 breast in 1:06.80) and the 200 breast in 2:25.20. Junior Alessia Cunegatti also posted two individual wins in the meet winning the 200 back in 2:06.87 and the 200 IM in 2:08.05. Cunegatti also took second in the 200 fly in 2:09.40.
“Today was another amazing win at home,” said senior Anna Marcotti. “This team has shown multiple times that it’s never too late to make a comeback because the meet is not over until the last event. The cheering and the excitement, together with the hard work we put in the pool every day is what made us win the meet today. I had so much fun and I’m so proud of every single member of the team!”
The Bulldogs (3-1, 1-0 Atlantic Sun Conference) return to the water Jan. 9 when the swimmers head to Gardner-Webb in Atlantic Sun Conference action. The teams will hit the water at 5:00 p.m. from Boiling Springs, N.C.

Asheville, N.C. — The Georgia Southern swim & dive team came up just short to UNC Asheville, 159-142, in their final meet of the 2025 calendar year.
The dive team competed Friday afternoon, with the Eagles pacing the event with the top three finishers. Karlee Wells would win yet another meet with her 1M score of 293.78, while Abby Ounsworth and McKinlee Taulbee took second and third with their scores of 254.10 and 244.35 scores, respectively. Mackenzie Smith and Ava Mallon also finished with their 191.40 and 129.30 on the boards.
The swim meet started with a 200 Medley Relay win, as the quad party of Calissa Kissinger, Sarah Luskus, Scout Chapin and Jamison Tiller won by a quarter of a second with a time of 1:48.64. Next, the 1000 Free went to Victoria Kjaerulff, who nearly had a sub-eleven at a 11:00.44 slot. The 100 Back saw the Eagles take the top-two slots as Kissinger and Chapin were the only sub-minute swimmers on the day with their 59.94 and 59.96, respectively.
Sterling Burd would dominate the 200 Fly, winning by nearly three seconds, swimming a 2:06.47. The 100 Free saw the Eagles take second through fourth, as Jamison Tiller, Carsyn Cosman and Alex Pope all scored needed points for Southern. The 200 Free Relay to end the meet saw Southern take second and third with time s of 1:37.78 and 1:43.14.
Burd paced the Eagles in points with her 14, including a second place finish in the 500 Free. Kjaerulff scored ten of her own, placing top-five in the 200 Back to go along with her win.
The dive team takes the road to Miami, as their next meet comes on January 3rd for a meet at FIU. The swim team next gets in the water back in Statesboro with their senior meet against North Florida on January 9th-10th.
