The Texas Longhorn men have released their schedule for the upcoming 2013-2014 season, headlined by a loaded in-season schedule where Jack Conger, Matt Ellis, Kip Darmody, and company will take on five of last year’s top ten teams in dual meets (Indiana, Michigan, Auburn, Georgia, and Arizona). If college swimming had a “strength of schedule” ranking, Texas’ would surely be #1.
Eddie Reese and company start the season with their yearly inter-squad meet before playing host to North Carolina in mid-October. Texas will then travel to Bloomington, Indiana to take on the defending champion Michigan Wolverines and an Indiana squad returning almost every important piece for a year ago.
After heading to Charlottesville to take on defending ACC Champion Virginia, West Virginia, and Penn State, the men will get a chance to taper down a bit for the annual Texas Invitational (they didn’t host this last year, when the Lee and Joe Jamail Swim Center hosted AT&T Winter Nationals), which in the recent past has drawn Arizona, USC, and Wisconsin.
The schedule picks back up right after the new year with back-to-back dual meets with two SEC powers, Auburn and Georgia. At the end of the month, Texas travels to Tucson for their final in-season meet of the year against the Arizona Wildcats.
The Longhorns will then play host for their two big meets of the year: the 2014 Big 12 Championships and 2014 NCAA Championships.
