Laura Sogar: Breaststroke Personal and Youth Swimming: Laura Sogar was born April 27, 1991 in Dallas, Texas to parents Mike and Susan Sogar. Sogar has one sibling, a younger sister, Lily. Sogar attended and swam for The Prout High School in Rhode Island. During her high school swimming career, she was a four-time MVP, Rhode Island Female Swimmer of the Year, five-time All-State Selection honoree, NISCA All-American, and a 2008 USA Swimming Scholastic All-American. College Swimming: Sogar moved away from Rhode Island and back to Texas to swim breaststroke as a Longhorn at the University of Texas and earn her bachelor's degree in economics with a minor in business. Her freshman year, Sogar finished her first Big 12 Championships with two gold medals in the 400-yard medley relay and the 200-yard medley relay, and two silver medals in the 100-yard and 200-yard breaststroke. Sogar went on to the 2010 NCAA's that year and finished 11th in the 400-yard medley relay (3:34.86), 14th in the 200-yard medley relay (1:39.57), 11th in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:00.95), and 13th in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:10.43).
