In the finals of the women’s 200 breast, Turkey’s Viktoria Gunes obliterated the Junior World Record with a 2:19.64, closing in on Rikke Moeller Pedersen’s World Record of 2:19.11.
With a new personal best time, Canada’s Taylor Ruck topped the prelims of the women’s 200 free in 1:59.34. Her previous best was a 1:59.79 from 2015 U.S. Junior Nationals.
Taylor Ruck comes in with a 1:59.79, but has had some big swims to show she’s faster than she looks on paper. Earlier in the meet, she blazed to a 1:56.71 relay anchor, so look for her to challenge today.
