Swims You Might Have Missed On Night 4 Of Summer Juniors

Highlighting night four in Irvine was 14 year old Aya Gillis-Pade who dropped over three seconds in the 200 backstroke to earn a 12th place finish. The 14 year old entered as the #57 seed with a best time of a 2:18.69 that she swam at the end of June.

Tonight, Gillis-Pade touched in a 2:15.63. That sits her tied for 67th all-time in the 13-14 age group. She has made huge progress in the event over the last year as she entered the season with a best time of a 2:19.59.

Also highlighting the night on the girls side was Kate Canales who dropped 0.85 seconds off her best time in the 100 fly. Canales entered with a 1:01.79 that she swam at the end of last summer and was the #39 seed. She swam to a 1:00.94 to finish 18th.

A pair of 15 year olds highlighted the girls 400 free. Winning the ‘B’ final in a best time was Zayda Miehl as she swam to 4:16.96. She was entered as the #49 seed with a 4:22.75, although she swam a best time 4:17.43 at Futures in Sacramento. Fellow 15 year old Una Diaz dropped over eight seconds to win the ‘C’ final in a 4:17.97. Diaz’s previous best was a 4:26.58 from June. She entered the season with a best time of a 4:32.95.

Highlighting the boys side of the night was Grant Bellin who dropped a second in the 200 backstroke to finish 11th. He entered with a best time 2:04.36 that he swam last week at Futures in Sacramento and touched in a 2:03.55 today. Bellin has made huge progress in the past year as his best time entering the season was a 2:14.21.

Kade Snyder dropped the 200 backstroke final in favor of the 100 fly and it paid off as he swam to a 54.11 to win the ‘C’ final. That dropped from his best time of a 54.94 that he swam in June.
