Henry Amar, Summer Juniors qualifier and New York HS State finalist, has announced his verbal commitment to the Ohio State University. A junior at Fordham Preparatory School, Amar is expected to arrive in Columbus ahead of the 2023-2024 season.

Amar swims for Fordham Prep and Empire Swimming. At the 2023 New York State Championships, he finished 10th in the 100 free with a 46.83 and 2nd in the 200 free with a 1:39.45. His best times of 46.00 and 1:38.41 were set in March of 2022.

Ohio State finished in 2nd place at the 2023 Big 10 Championships, marking the 14th consecutive year that the Buckeyes have placed in the top 3. They finished with 1,163 points, only behind Indiana’s 1,595.5.
They went on to earn 11th place at the NCAA Championships, marking their 4th straight top-11 performance.
Amar’s current best times likely wouldn’t have made the 2023 Championship roster, but there will be some freestyle spots opening up for the 2023-2024 season. In Amar’s signature event, the 100 freestyle, Ohio State sent four athletes to finals at the 2023 Big 10s, finishing 1st, 4th, 11th, and 17th. Of those four athletes, two will still be on the team when Amar arrives.
Joining Amar in the recruiting class of 2023 are Nolan Miller, a versatile freestyle specialist from Illinois, and Ohio Native, Lucas Lane. All three boys primarily swim freestyle, owning very close times which should make for a competitive training group.
