In her hometown of Stockholm, Sweden, 2x Olympic champion Sarah Sjostrom spoke with the press on the eve of the Malmsten Swim Open Stockholm. On Saturday, Sjostrom will swim her first race, the 50m Free, since the 2024 Paris Olympics, where she won both the 50m and 100m free. The new mother reflects on getting back into training after giving birth, her new outlook on goals for her swimming, and Cam McEvoy’s surprise world record in the men’s 50m free.

She’s the one to beat in 50 free and fly
It’s still crazy to me that Sarah’s first WC Gold was before Cielo’s 50 free world record, she’s been here for such a long time
2025 worlds was the first worlds that didn’t have Sarah in it since 2007!
Glad she sees and feels the improvements. Will be interesting to see what she can do in her first meet as she is entered with a 24.90 https://live.swimify.com/competitions/malmsten-swim-open-stockholm-2026-2026-04-09/events/7/122/entries
Will be interesting to see if she can be anywhere close to that.
Have not made up my mind if I am going to pay to watch the meet, about $20 for all 8/12 sessions: https://www.aquatv.se/sv/live
Did she say that she has already been 11.5-11.6 for the first 25m from a push in practice?
