Queens University Names John Long Associate Head Coach

CHARLOTTE, N.C.- Queens University of Charlotte’s Jeff Dugdale, head swimming coach, is pleased to announce the promotion of John Long to Associate Head Coach & Triathlete and Club Swimming Coordinator. Long has helped lead both swimming programs to back-to-back national titles as the men’s and women’s teams claimed their first trophy in 2015.

“John has earned this promotion through delivering at a high level,” said Head Coach Dugdale. “John is relentless in his pursuit of excellence and his passion shows in his recruiting and coaching.  I am so blessed to have both an assistant and a friend to coach alongside daily.”

Starting as a swimmer, Long finished his swimming career at Queens making the NCAA Division II Championship meet in 2012. He would claim all-American status in four different events before transitioning to the Queens pool deck. His presence over the past four years has move the Royals from a top ten program to national champions in the last two season.  He has helped to produce 41 individual national champions, two conference titles per team, and over 200 all-American swims.

Prior to joining the Royals family, Long was a swimmer at Auburn University, where he received his Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science. A dedicated swimmer, Long will compete in the Olympic Trials for this second time later this month after previously attending the meet in 2012.
