The 2025 Dutch Qualifiers meet is nearly upon us, with action kicking off tomorrow, Friday, October 24th in Rotterdam.

Most of the nation’s top stars are set to compete, vying for potential slots on the Dutch roster for this year’s Short Course European Championships.

Of note, former NC State big gun Nyls Korstanje will not be racing, instead focusing on recovering from a back injury.

Per the 26-year-old national record holder’s Instagram:

“I’ve decided to step back from the possibility of competing at the European Short Course Championships this year to focus on recovering from a back injury. Over the past few months I’ve been managing the setbacks as best I could while preparing for World Champs in Singapore, but now that there’s a big window to recover, I believe that my body will benefit most from some extra love and attention 🥹❤️‍🩹 Good luck to those competing at trials this weekend, I will be cheering from the sidelines 🙌🏽🫶🏽”

Among his events, Korstanje raced the men’s 100m butterfly at this year’s World Championships, clocking a time of 51.67 to place 20th overall. That was off his lifetime best of 50.59 from the semi-finals at the 2024 Olympic Games. There in Paris, Korstanje ultimately placed 6th in a final result of 50.83.

Also missing this weekend in Rotterdam will be Marrit Steenbergen, Caspar Corbeau and Sander Crooijmans, instead, they will be racing at the World Cup in Toronto, where they can still aim for the SC Euros roster.

All Dutch swimmers will be chasing the following qualification times needed to make the cut for Lublin, Poland.
