RALEIGH, N.C. – Sam O’Brien and Jacob Duracinsky broke school records as UNCW closed out its dual meet season at nationally-ranked NC State on Friday at the Willis R. Casey Aquatic Center.

The Wolfpack swept both meets with the seventh-ranked men earning a 160-125 win over the Seahawks while the fourth-ranked women topped UNCW, 186-105.

O’Brien, a sophomore, clocked in with a time of 9:08.27 in the 1000 Free, smashing the previous record of 9:21.04 set in 2009 by Luke Murphy.

Duracinsky, also a sophomore, eclipsed his own 200-Free record of 1:36.89, set earlier this season when he posted a time of 1:36.55.

On the boards, freshman Ethan Badrian swept the 1 and 3-meter events while Tatum Church and Courtney Klausen earned wins on the 1 and 3-meter boards, respectively.

Badrian continued his strong season when he scored a season-high 314.45 points on the 1-meter. On the 3-meter, though, he scored 365.55 points, setting a personal best and moving into second all-time in the UNCW records book.

Church also set a career-high with 295 points on the 1-meter, which elevated her to second all-time at UNCW and Klausen’s 303.65 points were also a career-best and ranks third all-time.

The Seahawks next compete at the CAA Championships in late February when the event will be held at the Hampton Aquaplex for the first time. The championship meet opens on Feb. 22 and runs through the 25th. The UNCW men look to defend their title from a year ago while the women look to make that next step following an impressive runner-up finish in 2022.
