Naële Portecop Lowers Own French National Age Group Record in 50 Fly with 26.12

Naële Portecop took a bite out of her own French National Age Group Record for 16-and-under girls on Friday night. Swimming in the final of the 50m butterfly at FINA World Junior Swimming Championships, Portecop clocked a 26.12 to finish just off the podium in fourth place behind USA’s Torri Huske (25.70), Belarus’s Anastasiya Shkurdai (25.77), and USA’s Claire Curzan (25.81). Portecop’s time of 26.12 lowered her own 16-year-olds record of 26.21, which is also a European Junior Championships meet record, by .09. Portecop had swum the 26.21 in Kazan, Russia this summer at LEN European Junior Championships. Her 26.21 was the fastest time out of semi-finals and lowered the meet record by .23. The meet mark had previously been a 26.44, set by Maria Kamaneva of Russia in 2016.

Portecop swim for France’s Amiens Métropole Natation. She holds the following French National Age Group Records:

  • 16 NAG 50 fly – 26.12 (also held the record with 26.21 and before that, 26.29)
  • 15 NAG 50 fly – 26.94
  • 13 NAG 100 fly – 1:04.00
  • 12 NAG 50 fly – 29.98
  • 12 NAG 100 fly – 1:08.19
  • 11 NAG 50 fly – 33.20

For the year of 2019, she ranks sixth in the world for 18-and-under girls:
