Miami (OH) Swim & Dive Kicks Off 2016

OXFORD, Ohio – After nearly a month off from competition, the Miami University men’s swimming and diving team returns to action with a two-meet week. The RedHawks are set to compete against the University of Cincinnati on Wednesday and then face the University at Buffalo on Saturday at Buffalo, N.Y.

The RedHawk men last competed at the 22nd annual Miami Invitational back in early December. Miami collected a third-place finish, tallying a total of 1736 points. Over the course of the three-day competition, the men turned in impressive times and consistent performances. Since then, the team continued to improve during their annual winter training in Coronado, Calif.

Miami is set to compete against the Bearcats on Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2016 in Oxford, Ohio in the Nixon Aquatic center. Events will begin at 6 p.m. The meet against the Bulls will take place at Buffalo in the Alumni arena Natatorium in Buffalo, N.Y. at 12 p.m.

The Competition

Cincinnati – The UC Bearcats come to Oxford after completing their annual winter training trip to Naples, Fla. They wrapped up their trip with two meets against Georgia Tech and Florida Atlantic. A portion of their diving team also competed against Miami at the Miami Invitational. Last season when the two teams met, the RedHawks fell to the Bearcats, 182-118, at Cincinnati. Wednesday’s meeting will be Cincinnati’s first meet of 2016.

Buffalo – Buffalo competed at the end of last year at the Bucknell Invite where they collected second place. The Bull are set to compete against Niagara later this week on the 15th. Last time the teams faced in dual-meet competition, Miami fell to Buffalo, 132-168. This Saturday marks the first MAC dual-meet for the season.
