Aschan Named Horizon League Swimmer of the Week

ROCHESTER, Mich. – Oakland’s Patricia Aschan was named the Horizon League Female Swimmer of the Week on Tuesday after winning the 200-yard backstroke, 200 butterfly and 400 IM against Toledo on Jan. 9.

Aschan, a junior from Raisio, Finland, won the 200 back with a time of 2:04.72; the 200 fly in 2:06.57 and clocked a time of 4:28.30 in the 400 IM. The reigning Horizon League Female Swimmer of the Year has nine individual event wins this season and has won three individual events in a meet for the second time this year. This is her second league honor of the season. The Oakland women’s swimming and diving team is 5-1 in dual meets this year, with a 3-0 Horizon League record.

The men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams return to action for a two-day quad meet Jan. 15-16 against Cincinnati, Kenyon College and OlivetNazarene in Gambier, Ohio at the Kenyon Aquatic Center.
