Kelby Modene of Maple Grove, Minnesota has announced his verbal commitment to swim for the University of Denver as a member of the class of 2024.
I am very excited to announce my verbal commitment to the University of Denver. The moment I stepped on the campus and met coach Alicia and Mark I knew this was the perfect place for me to pursue my education and swimming career. A big thank you to my family, coaches and my friends who have supported me over the last couple of years getting to this milestone and dream. Go Pioneers!!!!!
Modene is in his senior year at Maple Grove Senior High School. Last spring, at the MSHSL Boys Class AA State Championships, he took fourth in the 100 yard breaststroke (56.32) as well as seventh in the 100 yard fly (50.70). Modene swims with the Aquajets Swim Team year round. Over the summer he competed at the Junior National Championships where he swam the 100 and 200 meter breaststroke in times of 1:06.48 and 2:24.13 respectively.

Last year at the Summit League Championships Modene’s best times would have qualified for the A-final of both the 100 and 200 breaststroke.
