2026 Indiana Swimming Senior Championships

The top swimmers from Indiana gathered in Elkhart, Indiana at the northern part of the state for the state championships. Highlighting the meet on the girls side was Kate Fetters.

Fetters, an Indiana commit for this fall, swam to five individual wins at the meet. Highlighting those wins was her personal best 53.19 in the 100 back as well as a personal best 25.03 in the 50 back. She also swam to a lifetime best 1:48.25 in the 200 free. Fetters’ time in the 100 back would have been 5th on the Hoosiers roster this past season.

Maddie Moreth, a Florida commit, dropped 0.77 seconds off her lifetime best in the 200 breast to earn the win in a 2:11.16. It took a 2:08.77 to make 2026 NCAAs in the event but her new best time is impactful at the conference level as she now moves up from the ‘C’ to the ‘B’ final.

Leading the way on the boys side was Texas A&M commit Lucas Ackermann who dropped over a second off his lifetime best en route to a win in the 200 breast with a 1:55.59. Ackermann has had a huge season this winter, now dropping a total of over five seconds in the event. Coming into the fall, he had never broken 2:00 before in the event as his best time prior to this season was a 2:00.81.

It was a strong field overall in the 200 breast with four boys under 2:00. Finishing 2nd was Josiah Collins who swam to a 1:57.94. The 16 year old dropped 0.90 seconds during the swim. Joey Rojek (1:59.87) and Max Barnes (1:59.97) were also under 2:00.

Other Highlights:

  • 16 year old Max Barnes posted a huge personal best in the boys 400 IM dropping 6.46 seconds to win in a 3:51.04. He swam to lifetime bests in all of his events and was also highlighted by a 49.74 100 back and a 1:48.98 200 back.
  • Peyton McDaniel won three events on the girls side, including a 49.98 in the 100 free. She entered the meet with a personal best 52.57 in the event. She also won the 50 fly (24.30) and 100 fly (53.56).

It was also a great team battle between the Michiana Marlins and Fort Wayne! It came down to the 400 Freestyle Relay to decide the team title! Two great teams going head-to-head.
