All-Time Top Performances

  1. Kate Douglass, 23.59, 2026
  2. Sarah Sjostrom, 23.61, 2023
  3. Sarah Sjostrom, 23.62, 2023

  5. Sarah Sjostrom, 23.67, 2017

Douglass came into the day with a lifetime best 23.91 from the 2024 World Championships, a time that stood as the American Record as well as outside of the top 25 performances all-time. She now climbs to the top in the event.

This marks Douglass’s first LCM individual World Record. She is slated to swim the event later this summer at Pan Pacs, along with the 100 free, 100 breast, 200 breast, and 50 butterfly.

In addition to Douglass moving up in the all-time rankings, Gretchen Walsh was under the previous American Record that she also held with Douglass. Walsh touched in a 23.78 to become the #5 performer all-time.

Just last night, Douglass told media that she had not been too impressed by her swims so far in Indianapolis, despite wins in the 200 IM (2:07.04) and 200 breast (2:21.65).

First it was Mike “layup” Grella, now it is Kate Douglass.

USA trolls Australia.

UVA time and time again is proving to consistently develop these high and diverse athletes. Not only Douglass and Walsh’s generational talent. Definitely not a learn to swim

I started thinking about how random in-season meets seemingly see more WRs than end of season meets these days (I did not think about this very hard) but it made me think of the men’s 50 free WR holder currently being the anti-Douglass.

He swims 10 feet a week and sometimes does a 50 fly. He hasn’t done a turn since 2019. Douglass on the other hand has too many permutations of event lineups for people to keep in their head at once.

The whole final went faster than in prelims, with PBs at least for the first 3.
That’s quite unusual for the fifties.
Could it be a timing system glitch?

I hope Douglass scratched the 100 breast so she can take a shot at the 100 free wr with moesch and hopefully huske and Erisman make it a very fast final
