Illinois Picks Up Verbal From Speedster Katie Kosinski

Katie Kosinski of Pearland Aquatics and Friendswood High School in Friendswood, Texas has given her verbal commitment to the University of Illinois for the 2016-17 season.  Kosinski has historically been a sprint freestyler, placing 11th in both the 50y freestyle and 100y freestyle events at the 2014-15 Texas High School 6A State Championships. Kosinski also posted the fastest anchor split of the entire 200m medley relay field, both from A and B Finals, at 23.44.

Below are Kosinski’s swiftest sprint freestyle marks:

Best Times SCY – 50 free 23.93, 100 free 51.49

Best Times LCM – 50 free 27.72, 100 free 59.84

Kosinski is captain of both her Pearland Aquatics team, as well as her Friendswood High School squad, is Gulf Swimming’s Junior Athlete Representative and serves on the Gulf Board of Directors.

Of her decision to verbal to Illinois, Kosinski says, “I picked Illinois because of the high caliber of academics and swimming and I feel that I will be successful both in and out of the pool. The coaches and team really made me feel at home during my recruiting trip and I am excited to be a member of the team next year.”
