Hubert Kos has been all over the pool in Ft Lauderdale this weekend, winning his signature 200 back but also competing in the 50 back (1st), 200 free (2nd), and even prelims of the 100 breast (3rd). Kos says that he is trying to improve and figure out some of these “off” events so that in 2027 and 2028, he can nail down a more concrete international schedule and know what he has to focus on both in training and competitions.

Since everyone on earth is hell-bent on making impossible schedules for backstroke-IMers, he has to branch out a little.

I go to bed every night saying a little prayer that one day we’ll be able to see a Texas 1-4 200 IM at worlds or Olympics.

I selfishly hope the 2027 Budapest World champs will have a more reasonable schedule in this regard.
