H2okie Invite Day Two Prelims: Alabama, Virginia Tech Pace the Field

Alabama and Virginia Tech traded wins all morning in prelims and figure to do the same in finals.

The women’s 400 IM number one seed will be Victoria Mitchell of South Carolina, Who dropped 7.20 seconds from her initial seed to take the top spot in the A final with a 4:16.66. Fiona Donnelly of Virginia Tech is seeded second with a 4:17.07.

Rover Owen of Virginia Tech (3:53.02), Tom Peribonio of South Carolina (3:53.11), and Bryce Kananowicz of South Carolina (3:53.57), ran away with the top three sports in prelims and figure to do so in finals.

Maggie Gruber of Virginia Tech (54.41) is the top overall seed in the 100 fly, and should take home the victory as Megan Howard of William and Mary, the number two seed, swam a 55.15 this morning in prelims.

The Alabama men got the number one seed in the 100 fly behind Connor Oslin’s 48.39. Morgan Latimer of Virginia Tech is seeded second with a 48.61.Kristian Gklolomeev, who got an NCAA A cut in the 50 freestyle last night for the Crimson Tide , snuck into the A final in eighth with a 49.58.

Emma Saunders then took the number one seed for Alabama in the women’s 200 freestyle with a 1:48.08. Gabrielle Bishop and and Jessica Hespeler of Virginia Tech were second and third with a 1:48.24 and 1:48.99, respectively.

Alex Gray kept Alabama Rolling with a 1:37.42 in the men’s 200 freestyle. Owen Burns of Virginia Tech was not far behind with a 1:37.60, setting up what should be a great race in finals.

Alyssa Bodin of Virginia Tech holds the number one seed in the women’s 100 breaststroke. Kevin Leithold of South Carolina swam a 53.57 to take the top spot in the men’s A final.

Virginia Tech’s Holly Harper will be the number one seed in the women’s 100 back. Harper went 53.53 in prelims. Connor Oslin of Alabama will be the number one seed in men’s 100 back after swimming a 47.61 in prelims.
