There are some interesting entries that I’m excited to watch – wasn’t expecting to see Noe Ponti enter a 200 fly.

I’m also really excited to see what Gretchen can do in SCM backstroke.

I’m more interested in Marchand’s 3rd leg

Is there any way I can watch the World Cup as an Australian (without paying World Aquatics)? It’s not on Nine is it?

If you’ve got a VPN you can watch it at CBC or Eurovision Sport.

Some other notable Australians on the entry list:

Lani Pallister, Alex Perkins, Maximilian Giuliani and Kai Taylor. Also Brittany Castelluzzo who swam that memorable 3rd leg of the 4×200 at Singapore.

Lani sounded so motivated in her SS interview after worlds. Her turns and underwaters have improved and she’s dropped 10 seconds in the LCM 800 since she set her SCM PB. She needs to drop 4.5 seconds in SCM for the WR…

Yes, seeing what time Lani can put up in the SCM 800 is one of the things I’m most looking forward to at this first stop.

And then the 1500 at the next stop

Biggest surprise for me was ZSC not travelling with the rest of MM’s Griffith Squad – Ramsay, Wilkes & JES are entered.

Also no Meg Harris, which I thought was a possibility.

Quite a few of the younger women making the trip like Wunsch, De Lutiis & Casey.

As far as I can tell ZSC and Meg don’t meet the selection criteria so would have to cover their own costs so maybe that’s why they’re staying home.

Thoughts:

1. Didn’t Coetze say he would race at the US stops?

2. Marchand enters in 7 events. Still no 200 fly. The last time he raced 200 fly, long course or short course, was at 2024 Olympics.

3. Gretchen is entered in 50 back. I’d love to see her give the world record a shot.

Gretchen will get that WR easily

Is there a chance of Popovici going to any of the other two stops? I saw in an insta storie that he’s in Las Vegas, or was at least yesterday. Maybe… we can dream!!! Say this also for Ledecky, would love to see those 800 and 1500 WRs get absolutely smashed, given her form in 2025

The 800 record will get smashed… just not by Ledecky

I’m not sure Lani does it at the first stop, but man, do I want to see it.

Ledecky might not even win the 800 even if she turns up.

All I wanted was for Katie Ledecky to swim one time fully tapered in the 400, 800 and 1500 I short course meters. Just once Katie…in the world short course championships if possible. She deserves to be the first under the magical 15 minute barrier. Petition for Katie Ledecky to swim one meet (preferable WSC championships) fully tappered swimswam!
Even the GOAT has one gold medal in short course meters world championships!
Lets go Katie!
